Jason MacBain is the perfect agent. Tall, dark, and deadly, he
is a man who lives by simple rules—kill the bad guys and protect the world.
Closed off from his emotions, Jason has never believed in love and doesn’t need anyone. But all that changes the night he meets Bella Moretti…

Isabella Moretti is a famous chef struggling to reclaim her life
after she survives a vicious attack. Moving back to Chicago to recover and be closer to her family, Bella meets Jason and is frightened by the passion he stirs inside her. But now that Jason has found Bella, he is determined to claim her as his. And when her stalker reappears, Jason is under pressure to gain her trust, find a way to keep her safe, and do whatever it takes to end the threat to her for good.

Title: Under Pressure
Author/Authors Name: Laurie Roma
Genre: Erotic Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Siren Bookstrand
Novel
Reviewed by Maven

Jason MacBain is an expert security agent and an Alpha Male that falls for a feisty, yet damaged woman. The story starts out at a party and how Bella and Jason “met,” followed by hot, fast, hard sex. As I read, I wondered if the sex hadn’t come a little too soon in the story, not allowing me as the
reader to really gain a real picture of the couple or their connection other than a sexual one, but as the story unfolds there was much more to it.

Bella is a survivor of an attack, and the youngest sister in a family of older brothers, who is trying to gain her “normal” life back.  There’s only one problem. The man who attacked her is still on the loose. The family dynamic between Bella and her brothers is interesting, humorous, and probably holds true as to how the interactions of the younger sister and overly protective brothers would be.

While I did enjoy this story, I did feel that quite a bit of it was told to me instead of shown to me, and there were several repeated words or phrases that over time was a tad distracting, but that being said, I thought the author had a great idea in the creation of IAD and can see how this will be an
appealing series.

For those of us who like romance, and suspense, along with a dash of Alpha Male, Under Pressure by Laurie Roma is a recommended read.

In The Hidden Village, Geof Franklin gets the late-night phone
call every parent dreads and discovers that his son has been
missing for weeks. As he relentlessly searches for his only son, he uncovers
two hidden subcultures right under his nose -- in the heart of  Washington, D.C.

One seems to be a harmless but addictive game that D.C. workers
play on their lunch breaks and during happy hour, but the other is a
cult-like sub-culture of clans that live by their own rules and think
nothing of killing anyone who stands in their way.

Ignoring threats from the clans he continues to dig, finding
disturbing connections between the two worlds, and digging himself into more
and  more trouble -- with the mysterious clans, and with the
law.

The title didn’t prepare me for the story to come.  The Hidden Village starts with a father, Geof Franklin, who goes on a search for his missing son, Josh. During the search, what Geof uncovers will change his life forever.

The author has created a whole new hidden world of gaming and fighting clans placed inside our world. The story pulls you in from the start, and I liked the twists and turns. The one part I found a bit
confusing was the explanation of the clans, but as the story unfolded it all  came to light in its own time. The Lord of the Rings fans will be delighted with this book. It encompasses part  fantasy, part sci-fi, gaming, the components of a thriller, and ends with you thinking something like this hidden world could really exist.

I highly recommend The Hidden Village by Author Greg Krehbiel, and I’m looking forward to the next book.
