I have to admit, I don’t usually read a lot of cowboy westerns, but sometimes it’s
good to go outside your usual reading, and I’m glad I did. I enjoyed reading, The Cattle Drive. It’s one of those stories with a lot of twists, fun times that will make you laugh, and sad times
that make you want to grab a tissue. Overall, it was a well rounded, well written story that gives you the feeling of being right there on a ranch in Texas, and the characters of Michael and Rachael had a great chemistry together.

I’m not a reviewer who goes into a lot of detail, because I don’t want to give too much of the story away, and personally I hate reading spoilers, so I’m not going to give any. I will say if you love cowboys this book is for you, and even if cowboys don’t rate that high on your romantic reading list, you’ll still want to give this book a chance.

Two thumbs up to the author, Rebecca Joyce. I highly recommend reading, The Cattle Drive - The Armstrong Brothers of Cedar Creek.

Author: Alex McCarthy
Genre: Fiction Thriller

IF ONLY THEY KNEW by Alex McCarthy is a realistic view of the way we are headed. It
is a story of greed. It tells of the disasters in our environment and the fact
that the majority of it is caused by us. Yes, us. Humans. We are a greedy bunch.
When the disasters happen the world comes tumbling down and simple necessities
become very valuable. It's a story of two people and their relationship. How
they are put to the test between necessities and their
friendship.

The author ALEX McCARTHY, does a good job of making this book, IF ONLY THEY KNEW, a
rather dark sided important read. It makes us stop and think about what dangers
the human race is bringing upon life. The story goes on about friendships, the
ruination of life, and what our responsibilities may be. We don't stop and
think, we just do. There needs to be more consideration of our environment and
that includes people.

The book moves a little slow in places and it does need some editing. There are
spelling and grammar errors, but taking just the storyline, it is a thought
provoking tale. It makes you wonder if Global warming is actually taking over.
We have two ways, as the book shows, that can be taken. Naturally or man-made.
You wonder where YOUR responsibility lies. The book has a rather different
ending that what you would expect. No, I'm not going to tell, so go find
yourself a comfy, quiet place to read and reflect.

I'd give the book 2 stars, it had potential but it didn't really appeal to me.

Prometheus Unstitched by Lila Shaw

Cory Blindbarrow of Blindbarrow Crimefighting Couture, loves her
work—from tailoring bulletproof fabrics to engineering concealed weaponry.  Kowtowing to the over-sized egos of her superhero clientele? Not so  much.

Her newest client, Theo Richelieu, aka Prometheus Man, can see
five minutes into the future. Unfortunately, nobody believes him. He’s exactly  the type that pushes Cory’s buttons. But he’s also quite talented at engaging  (and disengaging) her buttons and zippers. As maddening as Theo can be, Cory can’t deny their supernatural chemistry.

When  a sniper targets Cory’s colleagues, Theo appoints himself her protector. His  know-it-all attitude soon has her ready to tattoo a bullseye on her forehead.  If Theo is unable to convince the headstrong couturier she’s the sniper’s next  mark, their happily ever after might never make it out of the design phase.

Well…what can I say? How about I was totally blown away, and taken by surprise by this book. Prometheus Unstitched is a unique, original story, mixing in romance and not your everyday type of hero/heroine. We are introduced to a heroine who is a designer of crime-fighting couture. How
many times can you say you’ve read that one? But then the sassy designer, Cory, finds her life changes rather quickly after she is introduced to Prometheus Man, not one of the “A” list heroes but a “B” list hero who can only see five minutes into the future. I’ve tried to come up with something even close that I’ve read to compare it to, and I can’t, so that in itself is awesome.

The author has created a world where superheroes are real, and has done it in a way that is fun, sweet, sexy, and innovative.  The chemistry between Cory and Theo a.k.a. Prometheus Man is off the hook, with some sizzling sex, and things to make you giggle and smile.

If you are looking for something new to read, that you haven’t read before, I highly recommend Prometheus Unstitched by Lila Shaw.

The Cool Part Of His Pillow by Rodney Ross

The mid-40's are that time in a gay man's life when his major paradigm shifts from sexy to Sansabelts. But when Barry Grooms's partner of twenty years is killed on Barry's forty-fifth birthday, his world doesn't so much evolve as it does explode.

After navigating through the surreal conveyor belt of friends and family, he can't eat another casserole or swallow much more advice, and so, still numb, he escapes to Key West, then New York. He embraces a new mantra: Why the hell not?

First, he gets a thankless new job working for a crazy lady in a poncho, then has too many drinks with a narcissistic Broadway actor. Next, it's a nude exercise class that redefines flop sweat, and from there he's on to a relationship with a man twenty years his junior, so youthfully oblivious he thinks Karen Carpenter is a lesbian woodworker.

Yet no matter how great the retreat from the man he used to be, life's gravity spins Barry back to the town where he grew up for one more ironic twist that teaches him how to say goodbye with grace.

I wasn’t real sure I wanted to read this book when I read the blurb and found out Barry’s partner of twenty years was killed, but I pushed past that, sat down, and read. Let me say, this isn’t a book filled with romance, but a book more about healing, yet it was an amazing story. The author
does an excellent job of taking the reader into the unfairness that life throws at us by the loss of a soul mate, and done through the “voice” of Barry, who is written so well he becomes real as you read. I’ve always felt there is something to the telling of a story in first person than forms a special
connection to the characters as we read, and The Cool Part Of His Pillow did just that. It was well
written.

I’m not going to give a lot of the story away, because I believe it is important for the readers to discover this book on their own. But be aware there are times you might need a tissue. Though this story is sad, it’s not all sad, and there are moments of humor and insight, with some colorful
characters.

Just like real life, we find Barry moves past grief and heartbreak to finally find healing, and closure.
I laughed and cried, and by the end was glad I read Barry’s story, because it wasn’t your typical m/m romance, it was so much more.

Skinny, awkward, redhead, Cadence Bennett is a shy, musical prodigy who is having a hard time finding the true emotion of the music she plays, even though she plays technically perfect, and when she answers a call for an audition to join a woodwind trio, things change for her.

There is an immediate attraction for Cadence with both Ryan and Chris, and when they ask her to join their musical group, and help her out with her recent housing problem, offering her a room in their plush apartment; she takes them up on both offers. From there the relationship between the three of them begins, rather quickly.

I thought a musical trio was an original idea for a ménage story, and the author did a good job of showing the frustration of Cadence who has a demanding, cold father, whom instilled a need within her to be perfect, but while she has reached technical perfection with the music, she doesn’t   understand the passion within the music she plays, and therefore she herself has a coldness about her and her music that she doesn’t like, yet doesn’t know how to fix it on her own.

While the sex was hot, the storyline sort of fizzled out. There were times I felt the dialog was a bit rough around the edges, and it did feel as if parts of the story were rushed, with something missing. That caused me to have mixed emotions about the story while I read it. I vacillated back and forth
regarding how I felt after completing it and read it for a second time, because I really wanted to like Windswept a lot. In the end, instead of being really jazzed about it, I felt it was good; I just wasn’t swept away.
