Excerpt from The Knickers by Doris O'Connor

"Because seeing you dressed like this makes me horny as hell."
He had to be hearing things. She could not mean what she had just said. However the short bursts of her warm breath against his neck and the hardness of her nipples against his arm confirmed the truth behind those words, as clearly as the musk of her arousal. There was no doubt in his mind that she would be wet for him. Her body gave her away, as surely as his own responded to her. The dominant in him rose to the fore, and he halted the upwards progress of her hand with a growled, "No."

She froze, and he fisted his hand in her hair, pulling her head backward to enable him to study her face. Stefano lost himself in the tender and hopeful expression mirrored in her beloved features, and he kissed the tears still clinging to her eyelashes away.

Mareijke sighed in submission, and he smiled into the kiss he slanted across her lips. How he had missed her, the simple act of kissing, tentative strokes of her tongue matching his forceful ones, as he took the kiss deeper, angling their bodies until she was lying underneath him on the bed. He yanked the cushion still between them away with an annoyed growl and thrust his frill covered cock into her groin.

She gasped into his mouth and clung onto his shoulders. Arching her hips to meet him thrust for eager thrust, she locked her ankles behind his ass, and Stefano grunted his approval. This is what he needed, this reassurance that she still wanted him as much as ever, and suddenly he couldn't wait anymore. He wanted her bound and naked, the silky walls of her tight pussy milking his cock, as he fucked her hard and fast.

He broke the kiss with a bite to her lower lip that made her squirm, and he cupped her mound. The damp fabric made him smile almost as much as her hiss of pleasure when he pressed against her clit. A shudder went through her, and her eyes went wide when he straddled her legs.

"Grip the headboard for me, and don't let go."

She complied immediately, and he grabbed the ends of her sensible blouse and yanked hard. Buttons popped and fabric ripped as he pulled the thing clean off her, and his breath stalled in his lungs at the vision in front of him. His wife's ample breasts were barely concealed by the scraps of red lacy scaffolding covering the heavy mounds, and he ran his knuckles across the hard nubs clearly visible through the see-through fabric. They firmed even more, and she arched into his touch. Her little teeth made imprints on her bottom lip, swollen from his kisses, and her whole body shook in need when he ran a finger under her bra cup. He pulled it down freeing that breast to his gaze and with a grin at her bent down and sucked the rosy tip of her nipple into his mouth.

"Stefano … please…" Her lust-filled moan shot straight to his cock, and he suckled harder, kneading the other nipple between his fingers. He knew how responsive she was to this kind of stimulation, and helplessly trapped as she was under his legs, he could feel the rising tension of her body, her desperate need to come. Breath coming in short gasps, her auburn hair feathered across the pillow, she held onto the headboard with a white knuckled grip, as her body clambered towards release. She screamed her annoyance when he released her nipple and bit down hard, causing her to pant harder.

With an audible rip the delicate lace of her bra gave way under his ministrations and her bountiful curves spilled into his waiting hands. Stefano pushed them together and blew across her distended nipples. Mareijke squirmed underneath him. A fierce blush spread across her sweat-slicked skin, and her head rolled form side and side. He drank in the sight of his wife lost to her arousal, and a sense of calm settled over him, like it always did, when he gave her pleasure. Even without the discussion that they would have to have soon, he knew that all would be all right between them. Stefano lifted himself off her and pulled her pants off, taking her lacy thong with them. The musk of her arousal drew him, and he left the trousers dangling just under her knees. Pushing her knees up, he angled her lower body until she was half lying on her side. With her hands still clutching the headboard and her legs trapped inside her trousers she had nowhere to go, and he ran his hands down the curve of her hip and kneaded her ass cheeks. She pushed into his hand with a small moan, and he brought his hand down on one shapely ass cheek.

"Yesssss, again … Please, Stefano … I need." The rest of whatever she was going to say was lost in the sound of his hand connecting with her milky flesh, and his cock threatened to split its lacy covering, seeing the red marks of his possession. Hearing Mareijke's needy sighs in his ears he couldn't wait one minute longer. The sheets of the bed were stained with her arousal, and without further ado he freed his throbbing dick and aligned himself with her wet entrance.

"I'm going to fuck you now, cara. Is that what you want?" He growled his question into her shoulder and bit her ear, soothing the sting with his tongue.

Excerpt from The Anniversary Gift by Cherie Nicholls
“What’s so amusing?”
“She said you’d come.”
“Did she? Well you can let her know I’m here.”
“Come on in.”
Cleo stepped in to the room. He didn’t leave her much room, and forced her to brush against his body.
“Who was at the door, Mitch?” Marie asked walking out of the bedroom in nothing but black lingerie. The very same set Cleo had bought for her birthday.
“Your woman has arrived.”
Cleo expected shock, perhaps guilt. She saw none of that in Marie. A smile spread across Marie’s face. Cleo’s temper started to rise. Marie wasn’t even sorry that she’d been caught.
“Mitch, as in Mitchell, your new PA? Little cliché don’t you think, Marie?”
“Perhaps, but it works for me. He works for me, too, in more ways than one.”

“I don’t need to hear about your exploits, thank you.”
“No? But I thought you liked when I talked dirty, baby?” Cleo’s cheeks burned. How dare she? How dare Marie try flirting with her when she’d been caughtcheating?
“Yeah, well that was before you decided I wasn’t enoughto keep you entertained.”
“Is that right?” Marie sat on an overstuffed chair, a hand casually stroking the swell of her breast.
Damn her, as angry and hurt as Cleo was, she still wanted Marie.
“Yes,” Cleo said.
“Mitch, get the door,” Marie said.
She was going to have Cleo thrown out? Fine. If that’s the way this was going to end, then fine. She’d walk out with her head held high even if her heart was in shatters.
The sound of the lock snapping into place drew Cleo’s attention.
“Goodboy,” Marie said with such praise for the man Cleo wanted to head-butt him.
Mitch locked the door.
What the hell?
Cleo watched him cautiously as Mitch walked around in front ofher.

“Now, Mitch, show my woman why you’re here with me.”

A woman on the run

Valeriya Morozova has managed to carve out a do-over for herself away from the clutches of the Corpus agency. The one formerly known as Anastasiya still lives on the edge, paranoid anyone will bust her secret and turn her in. Agency leaders believe her to be at the heart of the failed mutinous plot to overtake command, and the price of that betrayal—never mind that she is innocent—will be her life, paid in blood.

A man who’s always followed orders

In his decades inside the Corpus agency, case officer and former super-spy Graeme Whitman—aka Scott—has always paid heed to rules and obeyed all his orders. When he is chosen to bring the traitor Anastasiya back into the fold, Scott knows it will be just one more job he will successfully complete. After all, doing the right thing is atonement for your past mistakes, right?

Secrets running deep

Scott has secrets; who doesn’t? But he isn’t prepared for the full cupboard of skeletons Anastasiya carries with her...starting with the reason why she ran away from the agency. The more he digs, the less he is certain of, until he comes to ask himself why everyone has falsely painted her as a hard-hearted sociopath.

But is Anastasiya a victim, or a skilful manipulator? When her past collides with her present, the future as both she and Scott conceived it shatters. They’ve answered the call of duty all their lives—will they have to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of love?

EXCERPT 1

“Why did you run, Ana?”

She hitched in a breath. That’s the nickname he’d used-- Don’t. Think. Of. That.

“Antonia. Nothing mattered except her. She wouldn’t grow up inside the agency, and I wouldn’t let anyone take her from me.”

“There was nothing else?”

“That wasn’t enough?” she shot back at him.

He sighed again. “Things have been happening inside the organization.”

“What kind of things?”

He stared at her. “Mutiny.”

“What?” Surprise dropped like an anvil over her and she stumbled to the bed, where she fell into a heap next to him. “You must be joking!”

“Sadly, no. You didn’t notice anything back in there? It never struck you that something could be amiss?”

She turned to face him. “Something was amiss, Scott—I was pregnant, about to bring an innocent, defenceless child into this fucked up existence of being a Corpus agent. Excuse me for not thinking of anything beside that.”

“Speaking of, who’s her father?”

She steeled herself to answer this question...with a non-answer. “Why did you have to fake your death?”

Had he noticed she’d evaded the query?

He remained silent for long seconds, before he responded. “You recall the Stepanovic case in Marseille, a little over a year ago? Nothing was going as planned there, and it even ended in a case death.”

She nodded. “No conclusive evidence, no influence worked, and he even disappeared after a while. Total failure for us on that one, I remember. The boss hadn’t been pleased.”

“You’ll also recall it’s not the only case that fell off the wayside around that period.”

She frowned. “Now that you mention it...”

“Someone from the inside was letting those criminals walk away. Fey had also disappeared; we suspected she’d gone rogue.”

She winced upon hearing that name. How she’d hated that woman, because Fey had worked with Scott and had managed to snare him into her bed a long time ago. She’d had everything Valeriya had ever wanted for herself.

“Then someone targeted Kali.”

“Oh, my God! Is she okay? She isn’t...?”

“She’s fine. Her agent status burned, but she’s alive, living like a civilian now in Notting Hill with her husband.”

A sigh of relief rushed out of her. Kali—aka Rayne Cheltham—had been her best friend inside the Corpus. Right before cutting and running from Prague, she’d done all she could to save the life of Ash, Rayne’s husband, who’d been hit by a rogue bullet when he’d walked in on one of her operations.

Rayne, the only person she’d informed of her leaving, without giving her any details as to why. Her friend must now think the worst of her.

And so must Scott, and everyone else. Clarity suddenly beamed in her mind.

“You think I had anything to do with this?” Only someone on the upper echelons of the organization could’ve pulled this mutiny through, what with having access to case files and their whole arsenal.

And she had disappeared right after Rayne got burned.

That’s why Scott had been looking for her.

Series: Sander’s Valley,  Book 2

Wyn Sander is surprised when his brother Kyle asks him to be best man at his wedding. Wyn’s even more shocked to learn the woman who later walks into his garage is Ronnie’s half-sister, Iona. He’s instantly attracted to her. She’s sophisticated, beautiful, and confident. At least she is until Wyn stands up. She flinches and a look of terror passes over her face. It bothers him to see. Luckily, desire replaces it, but it doesn’t stop Wyn’s curiosity. For the first time in his life, he wants to find out what made Iona fearful and fix it.

Iona can’t believe her luck. The man she lusts after is her new sister’s soon to be brother-in-law. The kiss they share shatters her, but her attempt to stop any involvement with him ends up with her agreeing to three dates. She decides Wyn is unlike any man she’s ever known, and it’s unfortunate she can’t enjoy him. She isn’t in the market for a boyfriend. All she wants is sex. The only problem is—she doesn’t think Wyn sees things her way.

~Excerpt~

Wyn tapped out a rhythm on the hood of his ’57 classic truck. The noise drowned out his brother Kyle as he talked and talked and talked some more. Wyn had listened until the word “wedding” came up. It had killed his attention span, not that he had much of one. Probably why he was the only Sander who hadn’t gone to college. Hell, he’d barely made it through high school.

“If you don’t want the job, I’ll ask someone else,” Kyle snapped.

Wyn forced his fingers to still and glanced at Kyle. “What job?”

Kyle closed his eyes on a sigh. “Best man.”

“Me? What about Neil?” Wyn had thought Kyle’s best friend would’ve held the honor. Kyle and Ronnie had pushed their wedding date back specifically until Neil’s deployment in whatever third-world country he’d been stationed ended. A chilling thought surfaced. “He didn’t get hurt, did he?”

“No. He opted to stay longer. He’s not sure when he’ll be home.” Kyle rubbed the back of his neck. “And well, Ronnie and I don’t want to wait any longer.”

“Why not? You two are already living together. It’s not like it matters if you’re husband and wife.”

Ronnie had moved in a couple of months ago while she recovered from a gunshot wound. She’d been lucky the shooter’s aim was off. A couple of inches lower and Kyle would’ve lost the love of his life.

“It’ll matter to Mom,” Kyle said.

Wyn crossed his arms and studied his brother, an older and rougher version of himself. Kyle fidgeted, and a tinge of red stained his cheeks. There weren’t many things that would make him nervous, except a stern lecture from their mama. Eliza Sander was a force to be reckoned with. Wyn went over the possible reasons and chuckled.

“You got Ronnie knocked up, didn’t you?”

A grin spread over Kyle’s face. “First month we were trying too. We thought it’d take longer.”

“Congrats, man.” Wyn smacked Kyle’s back. “That’s great news.”

“Yeah, it is, but we’re not making it common knowledge yet. Ronnie wants to wait until we hear the heartbeat.” Kyle dropped his gaze to the floor. “You know, just in case.”

Wyn tensed. “Do you suspect something’s wrong?”

“No, but I’d hate to get Mom’s hope up, then break it. Besides, you remember how adamant she was about us not having kids out of wedlock. I refuse to be the one who breaks her rule.”

Wyn shrugged. “I think she’d make an exception. She loves Ronnie.”

“Probably, but it doesn’t matter. We’ve set the date for the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.”

“That’s as good a time as any. At least you won’t forget your anniversary.”

“Yeah.” Kyle crossed his arms over his chest. Silence stretched. Finally he sighed. “So are you going to take the job or not?”

Best man, right. “Of course.”

Kyle blew out a rough breath. “Great. I didn’t want to have to pick between Jack and Levi.”

Wyn didn’t blame him. As twins, Jack and Levi were close and always had each other’s back, but they argued constantly.

“What do I need to do, other than plan the bachelor party?”

“I’ll get you a list, but the good news is you don’t have to worry about a date. You’ll be seated with Ronnie’s sister.”

Thank goodness. He’d been debating which ex-lover to bring. “Iona, right?”

Kyle nodded. “She’ll be arriving in a few days.” He leveled a hard glare at him. “Be nice to her, okay?”

Wyn held up a hand. “Hey, I’m always nice to women. I just tend to lose interest before they do.”

“Iona’s had a rough time of it. Her—” Kyle’s phone buzzed. He pulled it from his pocket, glanced at the display, and groaned. “Look, I’ve got to go. Ronnie’s decided to cook me dinner. I need to save my kitchen from being turned upside down.” He grimaced. “Or my house from being burned to the ground.”

~About the Author~

A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with woman strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

My Inspiration for Fired Up by Lucy Felthouse

When I saw that Evernight Publishing had a call for submissions for uniform-related stories, I immediately added it to my to-write list. It’s no secret whatsoever that I’m a total sucker for a man in uniform. I didn’t have time to write something for both the M/F and M/M anthologies, unfortunately, so I just let my mind wander and see what it came up with first.

My brain decided it was time to lose my fireman virginity. Not literally, of course, as I’m spoken for, but in the writing sense. I’ve penned stories about soldiers, submariners, police, waiters and probably some I’ve forgotten, but I hadn’t yet tackled a sexy story about a fireman. As soon as I’d figured that out, the idea came to me pretty quickly... turning a super-boring event into a super-hot story.

I work from home, and, because I’m very nosey, I often glance out of the window. Not much gets past me. But usually, there’s absolutely nothing going on—I live on a very boring street. So when, a while back, a fire engine drove down to the bottom of the street, then turned around in the square at the bottom of the cul-de-sac, and parked up across the road, I was immediately riveted. There were no sirens, no urgency, so I knew an emergency wasn’t taking place. So what the hell were they doing there?

Sneaking peeks as I attempted to work, I watched as a single fireman headed into the house across the road with a step ladder. Then I remembered reading something in the local newspaper about the fire service being available to fit smoke detectors in houses and to give advice on safety and so on. So far, so dull... especially since I couldn’t see a single attractive fireman amongst them. I soon lost interest in the reality.

Luckily, my imagination is far from dull. So I managed to turn that idea—a fireman fitting smoke detectors and giving free safety advice—into a tale about two old friends who weren’t quite lovers bumping into each other by accident many years later and the resultant action. I’m not saying any more as it’ll totally give the game away, but I’ll just add that I very much enjoyed penning my first fireman story. It’s given me ideas for more, too ;)

Happy Reading,

Lucy x

*****

Excerpt:

Lucas Hartley grabbed his helmet and equipment and jumped out of the fire truck. The helmet wasn’t a requirement to go fit smoke detectors, but if the house had kids, it was pretty much a necessity. He’d yet to come across a rug-rat who didn’t ask Lucas to put his fireman’s helmet on, then take it off so they could try it on. He quite liked kids, so it was nice to see their little grinning faces, to make their day. Plus, if they were a handful, he could use the helmet as bribery to make them behave while he fitted the detectors and ran through a comprehensive fire safety discussion with a responsible adult. It never failed.

The downside, however, was that the whole fireman-in-uniform thing often got the responsible adults of the female persuasion all hot under the collar. For most guys, this wouldn’t be a problem. After all, a little flirtation here and there was good for the ego. But for Lucas, it was a drag—why couldn’t there be a single dad somewhere who was gay and needed a smoke detector fitting? Sadly, it just never seemed to work out that way.

Sighing, Lucas slammed the door on the mocking comments of his colleagues, who’d opted to stay in the truck. It only took one person to do the job in question, and today Lucas had drawn the short straw—literally. The others would no doubt chill out, chat and use their phones to text and surf until he was done, or an emergency came in. Whatever was first.

Rolling his eyes, he let out another heavy breath, then rearranged his face into a smile. No point taking his grumpiness out on the home owner. Striding up to the door, he put his equipment down, then grasped the knocker and gave it a firm tap against the wood. After a short pause, he heard the unmistakable sound of a key turning in a lock, and the door was opened a little. A woman’s face appeared in the gap. She looked him up and down, then peered around him to the large red truck parked at the end of her driveway.

Apparently satisfied he wasn’t a cold caller, she opened the door wider. “Hello,” she said, smiling. “Come on in.”

“Thanks.” Lucas picked up his gear and moved into the hallway, waiting while the woman shut the door.

After doing so, she indicated he should head through an open doorway into the living room. Lucas entered the room, and was just about to ask the woman—Mrs. Judd, according to his paperwork—if she knew where she wanted the detectors fitting, when a man in a wheelchair appeared from another open doorway.

Opening his mouth to greet the man, Lucas then snapped it shut as his brain struggled to process what he was seeing. Trying again, he came out with, “Christ! What in God’s name happened to you?”

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Dating is hard…

Single mom Maggie Hayes puts up a tough front to hide her loneliness, spending her days in the courtroom as a lawyer and her evenings as a closet video gamer. Another heartache isn’t worth the risk, not after her husband left her last year for a Hooters waitress. When she decides to try dating again, a cute video game-designing nerd seems like a safe bet… Until he becomes the prime suspect in a murder.

But falling in love can be murder…

Jeremy Rogers makes a good living designing video games, but nothing prepares him for the real world adventure of being accused of poisoning his own employee. Add in falling for a sassy attorney with a competitive ex-husband, a clingy blonde coworker, and a mammoth-size dog that eats his furniture. Suddenly fighting off a screen full of zombies or preventing an alien invasion seems like child’s play.

Game over!

Maggie and Jeremy find themselves embroiled in a game of death threats, lies, and betrayal. Maggie must learn to trust again while playing the most dangerous game of all. Because defeat could mean not only losing her heart, but also her life…

Revisit the quaint Colorado town of Pleasant Valley and sit in with the Page Turners Book Club, a group of book-loving women who double as extremely amateur detectives. Join them as they set out to help their friend, while devouring good literature and some really great desserts.

~Excerpt~

Maggie knocked on Jeremy’s door, her heart in her throat. She knew it was late, and she prayed he would be glad to see her.

She had no phone to call ahead and warn him that she was coming. Her purse was at the bottom of the lake. Thank goodness she hadn’t taken her car keys out on their date.

She was in such a hurry to get to Jeremy, to do something spontaneous for once, that she just grabbed a jacket, threw it on over her nightgown, and jumped in the car. The jacket barely covered her short pajamas and left her legs bare. She had scribbled a quick note saying she went for a drive and would be back soon, and left it on her nightstand just in case anyone came looking for her.

She had no shoes, no driver’s license, no wallet. She’d watched her speed as she had driven over, more worried about a cop catching her in a short black satin nightgown with no bra than with no license.

The front door opened, and Jeremy stood there, in a pair of black boxers with a picture of Han Solo and a caption about his light saber on them. His hair was smooshed and stood up in little spikes on the side of his head. He squinted at her through his thick black glasses. He couldn’t have looked more nerdy. Or more adorable. And she knew that she loved him.

She gave him a little wave. “Hi.”

“Maggie? Is that really you?” He stood back from the door and let her in. The house was dark except for the light from the flames thrown off by the fire that glowed in the fireplace. A pillow and a throw blanket lay haphazardly on the sofa. “I fell asleep on the couch and was just having a dream about you. Am I still dreaming?”

“If you are, then I’m dreaming too. And I don’t want to wake up.”

He shook his head. “I can’t believe you’re here.”

“Is that okay? That I just showed up? I know it’s late.”

His face broke into a grin, as if he had just received his favorite gift at Christmas time. “Heck ya, it’s okay. It’s awesome.” He grabbed her and pulled her into a tight hug, lifting her off her feet and planting a kiss on her lips.

She wrapped her legs around his waist and felt his hands slide down her back and cup her bottom under the jacket.

Jeremy pulled back, a mischievous look on his face. “Are you wearing a thong?”

Maggie’s face broke into a naughty grin. “Maybe.”

“Is it my birthday?”

“It might as well be.” She nibbled at the spot she loved, right under his earlobe. “You’ll have to unwrap me to get your gift.”

He smiled at her, a grin so big it nearly split his face. “Challenge accepted.” He carried her into the living room, her legs still tight around his waist, and dumped her onto the sofa. He straddled her and grasped the belt that tied her light jacket shut. “Should I just rip the wrapper off my present to see what’s inside? Or should I take it slow and savor the process?”

Maggie looked up at him, the flames of the fire reflected in his brown eyes. She searched his face and all she saw was love and wonder and passion. She felt this was right. This moment was exactly where she was supposed to be, and she knew she loved this man. Her voice was husky and low. “We’ve got all night. I think you should savor it and take it slow. Really slow.”
