Genre: Erotic Romance

Part 1 of 3 of a serial series (needs to be read in order) Be warned: This books ends with a cliffhanger.

Hardened by her damaged past, Alice Bennett has no desire for any type of relationship and easily dismisses the warnings about her handsome, but extremely difficult, temporary boss. She is determined to do her job, and do it well. She needs this job, and the references that come from working at a prestigious law firm.

But the moment she lays eyes on him, Alice’s determination waivers as unexpected desires stir inside her – even as he barks orders about her choice of lunch.

Dylan Marshall is the best lawyer in the city and knows exactly what he wants, and how he wants it done. As the senior partner at his prominent law firm, he expects the people working for him to do what they’re told. Discouraged by the string of incompetent temps, he has low expectations for anyone new the agency sends his way.

But the latest temporary assistant is anything but incompetent, and Dylan discovers he wants to know more about her, and intimately. Especially when she stands her ground and questions his orders. Suddenly, this domineering boss learns he prefers a woman to be his equal.

Content warning: Adult language and situations, plus some very hot explicit love scenes.

~Excerpt~

Dylan stepped off the elevator expecting to see Alice at her desk, but instead it was empty. He enjoyed seeing her there. She lit up each time she saw him. In his office, he found a stack of yellow notes for missed calls and a note scribbled about Jacob stopping by.

Had she quit? He glanced through the notes, looking for one from her specifying where she was, but nothing came up.

Fuck, this day just kept getting worse. He hoped she hadn’t quit. He’d been good to her. He hadn’t yelled at her once, and his expectations about getting work done seemed fine to her.

Maybe he should call it a day. Go home, sit on his couch, and watch a movie. Something boring that didn’t require much thinking. He’d had enough of that today for his lifetime.

The elevator dinged and he walked to the window in his office.

Alice. She was back.

He marched out of his office as she dropped her purse in the bottom drawer of her desk. “Where have you been?”

She raised an eyebrow. “Lunch.”

“You should’ve let me know.”

“I left you a note.”

“You did not.” He crossed his arms.

She sighed and brushed past him, entering his office. He followed, and as she bent to the floor, his hand ached to smack her ass that raised high in the air. She straightened and held out a white note.

Gone to lunch. Be back around 2. – Alice

He gripped it roughly. “How am I expected to know you left me a note on the floor?”

“If I’d done that, then I’d leave you another note to look on the floor.” She rolled her eyes. “I guess the air conditioning came on, blowing the note off your desk. There are several others under your desk.”

He didn’t like the irritation in her voice. It didn’t sit well at all with him. The thought of her being upset with him made him want to fix it. “It was a mistake. We all make them. Next time wait for me to return.”

She glared at him. “I had no idea when you’d be back. You can’t expect me to wait around for you all day like a little servant.”

“Servant?” Where was this coming from?

“Okay, maybe that wasn’t the right word. But if you don’t tell me when you’ll return, it’s hard for me to know when I can take a lunch. Since I didn’t pack a yogurt today, I went to the cafeteria.”

Oh, she was taunting him. “I told you I’d be back in a few hours, and I was.”

She was quiet and blinked a few times, her eyes slightly moist. “Next time I’ll wait. I apologize for my tone. I was out of line.”

She spun on her heels, but something over took Dylan. He’d upset her by being an idiot. Of course she should’ve taken a lunch. She needed to eat. He grabbed her arm, bringing her toward him. Without a second thought, he cupped her face and pressed his mouth to hers.

She froze, hard under his touch. Needing to know her taste, he thrust his tongue in. Mint…just as he’d suspected. Her tongue met his and as he deepened the kiss, she relaxed into him. With a free hand, he held her waist, tugging her against him. He liked kissing her…his body liked it, too.

She moaned softly as she clung to his tie. He’d love to take it off and tie her hands up with it as he pleasured her with his tongue.

The kiss ended too soon, and not by his action. Alice stepped away, bringing a finger to her swollen lips. She had a look of panic as she turned and darted out of the room. Her heels clicked as she dashed through the lobby toward the restroom.

Fuck. She was really going to quit now.

Can an older man be everything Krista’s been looking for?

Krista Michaels’ dating life has been non-existent since her divorce a year before. When her best friend steps in and declares it’s time for a night out at the newest May/December hang-out, The Gentleman’s Club, Krista enters a whole new world and lays eyes on a man who leaves her speechless.

Neil Clark likes younger women and having a good time. Krista catches his attention right away, From their first conversation, he can tell she isn’t a woman to simply play with. One problem: Krista isn’t interested, or so she says. But Neil isn’t about to let her slip away.

Krista’s heart and mind battle it out as Neil does his best to win her over. But they have one huge difference in what they want out of life, and Krista isn’t willing to give up her values, not for a man, not for money, not for love...

~Excerpt~

Krista jogged to catch up with her friend. At the entrance, a big man stood there in the classic get-up. Sunglasses, a black shirt, and tight jeans. He was hot and Krista wondered if she could stay out there with him because he looked more like her type.

“Good evening, ladies. I need to see some ID.” He held out his hand.

She dug hers out of her wallet and handed it to him. He glanced at the I.D.’s, smiled, and gave them back.

“Enjoy your evening.”

Jamie looped her arm through Krista’s and they were on their way to what felt like the unknown to Krista.

Inside was dark as expected, but there was just enough lighting so she wouldn’t trip over anything. There were a lot of women there. Apparently her friend wasn’t the only one with a thing for older men.

There was a small dance floor to her left, but it was mostly set up with various lounge areas. A contemporary feel flowed throughout with black leather sofas, red-and-white throw pillows, and chrome décor. The bar sat in the center of the room, and Krista was thrilled when Jamie led her in that direction.

A female bartender, who was surprisingly dressed conservative in a white button down blouse, greeted them. “What can I get you?”

“Two sex on the beaches,” Jamie said.

“Suck up.” Krista leaned her back against the bar and glanced around. She didn’t see a man anywhere without a young, beautiful woman at his side. Next to the attached women, she felt like she was wearing a paper sack. Not a man looked in her direction. “I bet all the good ones are taken.”

Jamie twirled a lock of her blonde hair as she checked out the men. “Why do you say that?”

“With the amount of women in here, any man without one at this point must be a loser.”

“Or he’s just waiting on the right woman.” Jamie winked.

The bartender returned with their drinks. Jamie told her to leave the tab open.

“Now what?” Krista asked as she picked up her beverage.

“Let’s find somewhere to sit, drink a little to lighten our mood, and go from there. This doesn’t need to be planned out.”

“This is so stupid.” Krista took a sip of her drink. “It feels like we’re waiting for some man to find us attractive and want to talk to us. It’s just weird.”

Her friend sighed. “Live a little. Jeez. How well has it been working out with the men your own age?”

Jamie had a point. “But still,” Krista protested halfheartedly.

“If you want to leave, I’ll give you my keys. I’m not going to force you to stay.”

“I might.” A deep masculine voice sounded from behind them.

A shiver swept down Krista’s spine. Her heart rate sped up and it felt like slow motion as she spun around to see who had spoken to her. Oh. My. God! She laid eyes on one of the most gorgeous men she’d ever seen. He put George Clooney to shame.

“Would you gorgeous ladies care to join me?” He motioned toward an empty couch.

“We’d love to.” Jamie smiled.

Krista attempted to speak, but no words were forming as she followed them over. She expected Jamie to sit next to the sexy man and keep him for herself, but instead, her friend left a gap for Krista to sit in the middle.

“I’m Neil.” He took a sip from his drink. The light gold liquid flowed to his lips and Krista found herself jealous of the glass.

“I’m Jamie, and this is my friend Krista Michaels.”

Why the heck did Jamie just given him my last name?

Neil rested his glass on the armrest. He was at ease and in his comfort zone as he straightened his light blue tie. “It’s nice to meet you both. First time here?”

“Yes. Though it’s a relatively new place. Have you been here much?” Jamie asked.

“A few times. I’m friends with the owner.” His gaze stayed on Krista.

She stared back, mesmerized by him. He had dark hair with slight streaks of grey at the temple. Not too much, just was the right amount. Perfect. Like him. Now if only she could speak, she might get somewhere.

“What do you do for a living?” He spun the glass around with his fingers.

“We’re both teachers,” Jamie answered.

His eyes widened. “This must be your favorite time of the year. Summer vacation.”

“It is.” Jamie poked Krista in the side.

Krista nodded since for whatever reason, her mouth still wasn’t working.

“Are you always so quiet?” Neil smirked. A tiny dimple formed on his chin. She loved a man with dimples.

“Usually she won’t shut up.” Jamie giggled. “What’s up, Krista?”

“I love your name by the way.” His blue eyes locked on her.

“Thank you.” She finally managed a word.

He took a long drink then set the cup down on the table. He sat back, pulling one leg up and resting his ankle on the opposite knee. “I’m going to be frank. When I see something I like, I go after it. And I like what I see, Krista. Are you single?”

His bluntness caused a wave of pleasure to ripple though her. “I am.”

“I’m attracted to you very much, but I don’t want to waste my time if you don’t feel the same.” He paused, staring at her with a longing in his eyes. Finally, he moistened his lips. “That isn’t entirely true. If you weren’t interested in me, I’d try harder. I don’t like not getting what I want, and I want you.”

Growing Love by Lacey Wolfe

Resigned to raising her baby without the father, Diane has everything figured out—a substitute dad in place, a support
system ready, and a new home to move into—at least until the day he knocks on her door.

Matt tried to let Diane go, tried to forget that she was
carrying his child, but an ultrasound picture brings his walls tumbling down. He can’t stay away any longer. But he hasn’t always been perfect. Diane and he share a past full of deceit and lies and now they have only nine months to undo
it all and become responsible adults. It’s not only about them
anymore.

With complications in her pregnancy, Diane is forced to move back to Brookfield to be under the care of her family. All she has to do is keep her feelings for Matt in check and she can stick to her original plan—raise the baby with Tom.

But it seems Matt has a few choice words about that…

Excerpt

Diane set the brush down after combing out all her tangles. All she needed was a light layer
of makeup and she’d be ready. Tom was supposed to be coming today and she couldn’t wait to see him. The last few days, she’d been feeling like herself again. Maybe it was time to go home. As much as she wanted to stay in Brookfield, she wasn’t sure it was right.

Matt had been leaving her alone. Aside from one day he’d left some bakery items for her with
Alyssa. He hadn’t done it again. Diane wasn’t sure if this was a good or bad thing. One moment he’d been adamant about being in her life and now he was gone.

She needed to stop thinking about him and especially stop wanting him. But she’d always been
attracted to him, even when he’d dated Alyssa. She found herself making eyes at him though she knew it was wrong. But when it had come to Matt, she threw all morals out the window. And she couldn’t do that anymore. She had a baby to think of.

After turning off the bathroom light, she went into the living room to sit and rest a few. She
wanted to get out for a bit, maybe go see a movie. That required sitting and would be enjoyable. Hopefully she could convince Tom.  He was acting more and more like a mother hen these days.

A light knock sounded on the door. Diane hopped up and grinned. She opened the door and
practically jumped into his arms.

“Wow, I didn’t think you’d be that happy to see me.”

She stepped back and straightened her clothes. This was awkward. How did she explain this.
Though it had felt good to have his arms around her again. “Matt, what are you doing
here?”

He cocked an eyebrow. “Obviously I wasn’t who you were happy to see.”

“Tom’s supposed to be coming.”

"Can I come in?” he asked nervously.

Was that a good idea? “I don’t know.”

“I promise not to get you upset.”

“Okay.” She motioned for him to enter. She might as well see what he wanted. “This won’t
take long, will it?”

Matt glanced at her. “No.”

They sat down on opposite couches but still by each other in the living room. Maybe she should
move over a cushion. Diane knew she needed to keep the tension down. But something about this man got her blood pumping. Whether it was hopping in the sack or getting in an argument, she stayed all hot and bothered around him.

“Your sister told me I’m the cause of your stress.”

So that was why he’d been leaving her alone. She was going to kill Alyssa, or was
she?

“I don’t want you having this baby early because of me.” He paused. “Or more likely, I don’t
want to be the one blamed. If you want, I’ll go away until after you have our son. Just as long as I’m not the one who is blamed if the baby is colicky or something like that. I can’t be the cause of every
problem.”

The cause of problems? Where had he gotten this idea from?“Matt, no one blames
you—”

“Yes, you and your sister do. Hell, Cody might too. But at least he talks to me to find out my
side. All I get from Alyssa is to go away until the baby arrives. As though the problems in this pregnancy were caused by me.” He took a deep breath and continued, “I don’t mean to come here and argue, but I’m tired of being a doormat.”

She hated that he felt that way. “You’re not.”

He snickered. "You just don’t see it. I don’t want to fight or see you get upset. Each time I’ve talked to you has landed you with contractions. But I’m trying. I really am. If you’d let me, I’d be so much more.” His eyes were dark with passion and she knew what he meant. “But I understand you’re with Tom.”

“I’m—”

“Don’t apologize. I let you go. One of my biggest mistakes.”

Diane didn’t even realize she was standing or know how she got onto the same couch with Matt.
But her lips found his and when they touched, all was right again. They stayed still a moment with just their lips touching. God, she wanted this man. But as she wrapped a hand around his neck to deepen the kiss, she felt him resist. She pulled back and gazed into his eyes.

"Why did you do that?” he asked.

She sat frozen, staring at him. “I, uh. I don’t know.”

“We can’t do that.”

Matt was telling her no. He’d told her he wanted her. And she’d kissed him. Now he was
telling her he couldn’t do this. Wow, she was really confused. She wiped her hands across her pants before she stood and paced a little. Her cheeks burned from embarrassment. This man was going to drive her insane.

“Please, sit.” He patted the couch.

“No. I’m not going to sit down. I’m sick and tired of everyone telling me to sit down. Everyone thinks they know what I need or want. But they don’t.” She placed her hands on her hips. “Maybe I want you
too.”

“What about Tom?”

“What about me?” Tom appeared.
